Ballston is a bustling metropolitan neighborhood in Arlington County, Virginia. It is home to the Ballston-MU station on the Orange Line and the silver line. There are many shops and restaurants in close proximity to this metro. There is no need for parking at the Ballston Metro Station since it has a busy metropolitan feel within a walkable community.

The hub of this community is the Ballston Quarter, formerly known as Ballston Common Mall which was originally opened in 1951 and was the first major suburban shopping centers in the entire Washington DC area. The Kettler Capital Iceplex, constructed on top of the Ballston Quarter's parking garage is home to the Washington Capitals National Hockey League (NHL) office and training facility. The Iceplex also provides public skating, figure skating and hockey programs for youth and adults. In matters of food and restaurants, Ballston is home to different tasty cuisines. Taste of Arlington food festival is an annual street fair held in Ballston each spring since 1987. The 2009 Taste of Arlington event featured over forty area restaurants offering portions of their cuisine to ticket-holders and drew approximately 15,000 people. Ballston is also home to several United States government agencies and organizations including the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), The Office of Naval Research, and The DHS National Protection and Programs Directorate. There are also a number of non-profit groups, including The Nature Conservancy are located in Ballston. When it comes to education, Ballston neighborhood is home to Washington-Lee High School. There are also several university facilities in Ballston, including Marymount University (MU) satellite campus,  Virginia Tech research center, and George Washington University graduate education center.
