Fitness Trails
Burke Lake Park has one of the ten best fitness trails in the country. The Burke Lake Loop Trail follows the shoreline 4.7 miles around the lake. It has bays jutting out from the main body of water. This bay provides a welcome sense of solitude. Gravel is surfaced for most of the length of Burke Lake Loop Trail. It is a fine choice for either a brisk walk or a run. It’s also suitable for biking.
Fishing
Burke Lake Park's main attraction is a 218-acre lake with 5.25 miles of fishing shoreline, a new fishing pier, a boat launching dock and four fishing bulkheads at the state game area. Both the fishing bulkheads and the fishing pier are accessible to disabled persons. A 4.68 trail surrounds the lake starting at the marina parking lot. The lake also features Muskie, Walleye, Black Crappie, Catfish, White and Yellow Perch, and a variety of Bluegill and Sunfish. Anyone of age 16 and up and has a fishing license can try his/her luck at Burke Lake.
Ice Cream Parlor
The ice cream parlor is stocked with a variety of delicious Hershey’s Ice Cream flavors, snack, and drink items. With a shelter nearby, this ice cream parlor is the perfect place to have a birthday party or other small gathering. It is located near the train station, mini-golf, and a playground. This ice cream parlor is a place where you can cool down and relax after a fun day at Burke Lake Park.
Camping
Burke Lake Park offers camping grounds at 100 wooded sites. Camping is allowed daily from 12 April to 26 September. Family camping sites are limited to no more than 7 people, and no more than 2 tents. More than 7 people or 2 tents will require an additional camping site. Camping fee is $28 for weekdays and $31 on weekends.
Hours And Fees
Burke Lake Park remains open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. throughout the year. The campground is open April-October. Park facilities are open only on weekends from April 6 until Memorial Day weekend. From Memorial Day until Labor Day, all facilities (except the camp store) are open daily, weather permitting. After Labor Day (September 2), the park facilities are open weekends only through October 27, weather permitting. Last night to camp is Saturday, October 26. There is no charge for Fairfax County residents. The entry fee for non-residents is $10 per vehicle.
