Oronoco Bay Park is a 5.08 acre park located at 100 Madison St along the Potomac River in Alexandria. The park was developed in the 1980s after the acquisition of the land by the City of Alexandria. The land used by the park was inhabited by the Indians in the mid 17th century and was later owned by the Standard Oil Company. Today, Oronoco Bay Park is one of Alexandria's main parks where persons can enjoy walking picnicking and relaxing. It is a popular place for hosting of picnics and festivals. The park also features areas for walking, biking and jogging. Oronoco Bay Park is famous for the hosting of festivals and special events held annually during the warmer months of the year. The most popular event is the USA-Alexandria Celebration which is held each summer. The community gathers at the park for this special event where there are displays of fireworks and a concert performed by the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra.
