Dora Kelley Park is one of the largest parks in Alexandria. It is located at 57 Sanger Ave in Alexandria. The park was named in honor of the Late Dora Kelley who was an avid nature lover and a long time resident of Alexandria. The park was acquired in 1976 by Alexandria's City Council and it has since been maintained as a living legacy which enriches the lives of all who visit.
The Dora Kelley Park is 50-acres of oak-hickory forest, stream valley floodplain and freshwater marsh. Home to a variety of native plants and wildlife the park is a prime birding spot any time of the year. The park features the Jerome "Buddie" Ford Nature Center which was established in 1978 and provides year round programs and exhibits on the parks human and natural history. The Nature Center exhibits live animals, holds nature instruction classes and leads guided park walks within the Park Naturalist.
Dora Kelley Park is the perfect spot for all nature lovers and for persons who wish to bond with nature.
