The goals of the Reston Historic Trust and Museum are to engage the public in an exploration of community history, to promote Reston as a destination point for tourism, and to collect, preserve and interpret the artifacts and documents of Reston’s history. Visitors can learn about the unique history of Reston, America’s first successfully planned community through exhibits and a short film that discusses Reston’s history from the 1960s to the present day. Children can create their own planned community with building blocks in the museum. The admission to the museum is free. The museum offers a gift shop along with the exhibits.
