Four Mile Conservatory Foundation To Receive Funding From Dominion Energy

The Nature Program at the Four Mile Run Park, the Four Mile Run Conservatory Foundation has been selected as one of 135 organizations who will receive funding through Dominion Energy's environmental stewardship grant. The grant which is valued at $10,000 will go towards the Nature Explorers and Restorers (NEAR) project which gives elementary and middle school age youth who live near Four Mile Run the opportunity to learn more about the nature of the park. The NEAR Program also serves kids in the same age group in Arlandria, Chirilagua, Hume Springs and Lynhaven. President of Four Mile Run Conservatory Foundation Kurt Moser states that "the support allows us to provide quality programming where kids make scientific observations, protect natural lands and discover the miraculous urban ecosystem here at Four Mile Run". Kids enrolled in the NEAR program visit various sections of the park and learn about the park's ecosystem using binoculars, microscopes, magnifiers and field identification guides. Students record their observations  and experiences in journals.
