Walk Along The Meadowlark’s Winter Walk of Lights

This year, Meadowlark’s Winter Walk of Lights starts on Friday, November 8, 2019, and continues every night (including Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year) through Sunday, January 5, 2020. Every year from mid-November until just after New Year’s Day, the garden is transformed into a half-mile, walk of lights. The Winter Walk of Lights is illuminating the gardens in its 8th year and now receives as many as 75,000 to 80,000 visitors each year.

Visitors can look for returning favorites like Lakeside Lights, the Fountain of Lights and the Holiday Nature Wall and see new displays. Aside from viewing the light displays, visitors can browse the Snowflake Shoppe & Garden Gift Shop and stop by the S'More Snacks Shop to roast marshmallows by the fire. Winter Walk of Lights opens nightly at 5:30 p.m., and tickets are available in person and online. The Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority recommends buying tickets online for the best price and guaranteed admission. Weekends, holidays and the last two weeks in December tend to be busier. Tickets start at $8 online. The lights are nature-themed and displays include a fairy garden and a garden with flowers and a cute beehive with bees buzzing about (our beekeepers favorite). Trees are decked out with all different colors of lights, there’s a stream with fish jumping through the water, squirrels hopping through the trees, Holly Berry Hill, a tunnel that kids, in particular, will enjoy walking through and lots of other displays.
