If you are a skater or a BMX biker chances are you've been to Powhatan Springs Park. But, if you haven't then you don't know what you're missing out on.
Powhatan Spring Skate Park
Located at 6020 Wilson Boulevard in the Boulevard Manor neighborhood of Arlington, Powhatan Springs Park features a rectangular athletic field, Children’s Rain Garden, public restrooms, drinking fountain, parking, and a concrete Skate Park. Recently renovated, this 16,300 square foot skate park is one of the most popular features of Powhatan Springs Park. It has a combination of street-style elements as well as old-school elements including two bowls, snake zones, half-pipes, and a street area.
The skate park has general operating hours that include set times for free skate, managed sessions, and BMX bike only sessions. It attracts a crowd of all ages including smaller kids who come with their scooters, teenagers with their skates, and even 40 year-olds who also come later in the evening. Helmets are required at both managed and free skate sessions, and you must bring your own helmet.
Powhatan Spring Park is named after a spring in the southeast of the park, which was named after Chief Powhatan, a Native American chieftain from the Tidewater area, whose rule extended as far north as Arlington. He was also Pocahontas' father.
