Things To Do At The Historic Fort Ethan Allen Park

There are so many fun things to do at the historic Fort Ethan Allen Park in North Arlington. Built in 1861, Fort Ethan Allen is one of the only three surviving forts from the Civil War. The old fort walls have now long been removed and have been serving the community as a park. Come and enjoy a day off at this historic 15-acre park that includes Madison Community Center.

  • Turn the kids loose on the playground- nestled behind the community center, this fully-fenced playground offers various play structures including swings, slides, monkey bars, etc for kids of all ages.
  • Shoot hoops on the basketball court- there's a basketball next to the playground where you can practice shooting some hoops or challenge a friend to a game.
  • Run around on the multiuse field (permits take priority)
  • Bring your dog out to the nearby dog park where they can run around off-leash, play, and make some new friends.
  • Learn about the history of the site- the fort still retains several major aboveground features including large earthworks, one bombproof, gun platforms, and traces of magazines.
Ft. Ethan Allen Park is located at 3829 N Stafford St and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior. Additional Fort Ethan Allen Park amenities include a gazebo, a water fountain, restrooms, and interpretative panels located west of Stafford St. adjacent to Glebe Road Park.
