Children’s Science Center offers Virtual Camp “Bug Out”

The Children’s Science Center Lab is now offering weekly virtual camps for children in grades 3-6. If your children are interested in bugs, then it's a great opportunity for them to learn about them. Children’s Science Center Lab offers "Bug Out" virtual camp on May 4, 2020, from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The registration fee for the camp is $125 per week. Fees help support the non-profit museum, whose Lab at Fair Oaks Mall is currently closed because of statewide shelter-in-place restrictions. Each day of virtual camp will include an hour-long morning video session from 9 am-10 am, a daily challenge activity, an hour and a half afternoon video session from 2 pm - 3:30 pm. Video Sessions include games, discussion, instruction, science connection, and an exciting online animal encounter or science demonstration presented live by the STEM Educators. Campers will receive an online informational packet to help them complete the daily STEM challenges, including step by step instructions to follow, worksheets to complete, templates for projects, and a list of possible materials. The only materials necessary to participate in the camp are a device with video and internet access (tablet, laptop, computer, etc) and a pencil and paper.  It is helpful to have a printer to print the online informational packets.  All projects can be completed with a wide array of household items.
