Master Technician Jeff Smith has dedicatedly served Fairfax County residents for 32 years. He was recently recognized for his work with the county’s Fire and Rescue Department Hazardous Material Response Team (HMRT). He was a senior member of the team for more than 25 years,. As the logistics manager, he ensured that members had all the equipment they needed. He also ran the equipment warehouse.
As per Fairfax Connection, "On July 30, Bill Collier, Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) Safety Committee chairman, went to Fairfax Center Fire Station 40 and presented Smith with the SAR Fire Safety Commendation medal. However, it was a bittersweet day, as it was also Smith’s last shift before retirement."
