Furnace Record Pressing is one of the biggest Vinyl record Plants. The company which operates at a 50,000 square foot facility located at 6315 Bren Mar Dr Suite 195, Alexandria was founded in 1996 by musician and label co-owner Eric Astor. The company currently makes approximately 11,000 records per day and is considered one of the country's biggest vinyl-manufacturing outfits.
Vinyl-Record Pressing is considered a hands-on craft and the eight refurbished Toolex Alpha machines located at the facility squeeze puck shaped balls of molten PVC between two stamper plates which creates the grooves which holds the music. After the creating of a vinyl the disks go through a quality control process then packaged in their jackets, wrapped in plastic and boxed up for delivery to distributors. Furnace Record Pressing not only creates vinyls but they offer a robust line of mastering, printing, packaging and mailing services all under one roof.
