The non profit organization Carpenter's Shelter is set to benefit from a donation of $300,000 from Amazon. The organization who supports the homeless is building a new facility called New Heights in North Old Town and the big donation from Amazon has allowed them to reach their fundraising goal.
The facility will include a 60 bed overnight shelter, a day shelter for the chronically homeless and a hypothermia shelter for use during the winter months. The facility will also house 10 supportive housing units and 87 low rent apartments that will be owned and managed by the Alexandria Community Development Corp.
