Starting Friday restaurants in Alexandria will now be permitted to use some parking spaces for outdoor dining. The new temporary outdoor dining program was approved by the City as a part of the first phase of "Forward Virginia", a plan implemented by Virginia Governor Ralph Northam.
Restaurants located within the King Street Outdoor Dining are will be permitted to set up outdoor dining area in parking space outside of their business. Resutrants located outside the King Street area will need to work with Planning & Zoning professionals to set up safe and legal outdoor dining on sidewalks, parking spaces and in parking lots.
All restaurants will need to ensure there is no hindrance of pedestrian or vehicular traffic and outdoor set up should adhere to social distancing guidelines.
