Hunger Free Alexandria Benefit From Catholic Charities Donation

On October 16th the St. Lucy Food Project and ALIVE!, members of Hunger Free Alexandria (HFA) benefited from donations from the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington. The donations which was made in front of Alexandria's City Hall included 5,000 pounds of non perishable food. Residential Leaf Collection Begins In November For Alexandria

The City of Alexandria's leaf collection program will begin on November 4 and will continue until January 5th 2020. The city encourages all residents to recycle their leaves by raking the leaves to the curb for vacuum collection, placing the leaves in paper leaf bags for curbside collection or compost leaves and waste at their home. When preparing the leaves for vacuum collection residents should ensure the leaves are raked a day in advance and the leaves are placed into piles at the curb so as to facilitate a more efficient collection. Leaves placed in paper bags should be left on the curb on their regular trash collection day. Residents should ensure that the leaves are placed in paper bags only for collection. Residents interested in the collection of leaf and wood mulch can do so at 421 Eisenhower Ave for self serve pick up. The hours for pick up are Monday through Saturday from 7 am to 3:30 pm while supplies last. Continue reading

Enjoy Breakfast And Craft Fair With First Christian Church Of Alexandria

The First Christian Church of Alexandria will be hosting its Seventh Annual Craft Fair and Pancake Breakfast on its church grounds at 2723 King Street Alexandria. The event will be held on November 9th from 9 am to 2 pm. Patrons to the event can explore various booths and purchase holiday gifts from local craft vendors. Items for sale at the event will include handmade jewelry, soaps and lotions, greeting cards and much more. Patrons will also be treated to delicious comfort food. Proceeds from the craft fair will benefit the church's local mission projects while proceeds from the pancake breakfast will benefit Hunger Free Alexandria. Continue reading
