More Amazon-Aimed Housing Development Planned For Alexandria

The City of Alexandria is set to increase its housing development with the establishment of a new apartment building slated for Old Town. The 115-unit seven story building will be located at 1200 N. Henry Street and it will help to address the influx of housing needs brought about by the arrival of Amazon HQ2 Employees. The development will be constructed by D.C Based developer NOVO Properties with financing from Pinnacle Financial Partners.  The project is expected to break ground in the first quarter of 2020 with a completion by late 2021. Lee-Fendall House Museum & Garden To Host 4th Speakeasy Fundraiser in Alexandria

The Lee-Fendall House Museum & Garden located at 614 Oronoco Street in Old Town Alexandria will host its 4th fundraiser event on September 14th. The event dubbed Sips & Secrets: A Speakeasy Night will celebrate the house's Prohibition-era history. The event will be held from 7 pm to 10 pm and attendees will be able to enjoy 1920s-style drinks while dancing the night away to live jazz music and ragtime. Attendees will also be treated to dance and costume contests and be able to win great prizes in a silent auction by local Alexandria businesses. A pre-reception will be held for VIP members which will include an exclusive liquor tasting and a tour of the house.
