40 Year Old Local Couple Opens Famous Toastery In Fairfax County Instead of Opting Retirement

Gary and Diane Reedy have been together for more than forty years and have seen many seasons together. People usually look forward to the day of their retirement when they can finally relax and spend the rest of their life with their family, contemplating life. However, this is not the case with Gary and Diane Reedy of Fairfax County.  Instead of opting retirement, this couple has decided to open a toastery at RTC West, 12100 Sunset Hills Road.  They have named it Famous Toastery and it serves brunch and breakfast. The first official opening of the Famous Toastery was held on Monday, following a soft opening over the weekend. The sales of the weekend were donated to a non-profit organization, Cornerstone. Diane Reedy is a former World Bank employee while her husband Gary Reedy was a high school teacher and coach. Before opening Famous Toastery, the couple has ventured in several businesses. However, they have sold off their other ventures and opted for Famous Toastery. Gary Reedy chuckled, “The problem is that we can’t ever stop. I can’t play golf every single day. We’ve had our careers and retirements and a couple of kids. Sometimes, I wonder how we did it all, but we’re young at heart and we want to stay involved.” Diane Reedy also added, “Simon’s vision for Reston was to include people from all different kinds of backgrounds. It was really meant to be an integrated community, and it has benefited from a lot of public involvement and will continue to benefit from a lot of public involvement.” Famous Toastery was turned into a Franchise in 2013 and has two other branches in Virginia, according to wtop.com/fairfax-county/

How To Maintain Your Home In Fairfax County In A Cost Effective Way

Having your own home in Fairfax County is a blessing. However, it is also a costly affair. You need money not only to buy a house in Fairfax County but also to maintain it. According to Realtor Magazine, "Nearly 20 percent of homeowners admit they have no money put aside for an emergency home repair. Yet more than half of the respondents say they’ve had a home repair emergency in the last 12 months". It is quite common to have a burst or leaky pipe in the house. This problem, if immediately taken care of, will only cost you a few dollars. However, If it is ignored it can cause serious damage to your house. Myles Meehan, vice president of corporate communication at HomeServe USA, says, “The median age of a home is about 40 years, so that’s telling us that homes are aging. People should be concerned about maintenance and be prepared for things to break down." But there is nothing to worry. You can maintain your house in Fairfax County in an easy and cost-effective way. According to Realtor Magazine, "Many financial experts recommend stowing away 1 percent of the home’s purchase price each year to cover ongoing home maintenance costs. In addition, people should have savings equal to at least three to six months of overall living expenses in an emergency fund". Thus, just put aside some money regularly for your home maintenance.  Don't ignore little problems with your house to avoid any serious hazards. If you follow these simple routines, you can maintain your house in Fairfax County without spending huge amounts of money.

Questions To Ask When Choosing Nesbitt Realty In Fairfax County

How long have you been in residential real estate sales in Fairfax County? Is it your full-time job?

Like most professions, the experience is no guarantee of skill. But much of real estate is learned on the job.

How many homes did you and your real estate brokerage sell last year in Fairfax County?

This will touch on how much experience they have, and how up-to-date they are on the local market.

What designations or certifications do you hold?

Real estate professionals have to take additional specialized training in order to obtain these distinctions. Designations and certifications help define the special skills that an agent can apply to your particular real estate needs in Fairfax County. One designation sellers might for is the Certified Residential Specialist, but there are also specialists for military customers, seniors, and those who are considering a short sale, among others. How many days does it take you to sell a home in Fairfax County? How does that compare to others? The agent you interview should have information about their performance on hand and be able to present market statistics from their local MLS to provide a comparison.

What’s the average variation between your initial listing and final sales price in Fairfax County?

This is one indication of Nesbitt Realty's pricing and negotiating skills.

What specific marketing systems and approaches will you use to sell my home in Fairfax County?

Your agent should have an aggressive, innovative plan and understand how to market property online.

Will you represent me exclusively, or might you also choose to represent the buyer?

While it’s usually legal to represent both parties in a transaction in Fairfax County, your agent should be able to explain his or her philosophy on client obligations and agency relationships.

Can you recommend service providers who can help me obtain a mortgage, make home repairs, and so on in Fairfax County?

Practitioners should be able to recommend more than one provider and let you know if they have any special relationship with any of the providers.

How will you keep me informed about the progress of my transaction?

The best answer here is a question. A real estate agent who pays attention to the way you prefer to communicate and responds accordingly will make for the smoothest transaction.

Could you please give me the contact information of your three most recent clients in Fairfax County?

Ask their former customers if they would use the agent again in the future.
