Homes for Sale near Wolf Trap

Wolf Trap Early history tells that in 16th century wolves were prevalent in what is today’s Wolf Trap which compromised the safety of the community. Thus, to deal with the danger, rewards were granted for those who could trap those fierce creatures. A parcel of land in this region was purchased by Wolf Trap’s Founder, Catherine Filene Shouse who chose to preserve the name Wolf Trap. She developed the property into a farm intending to give her children solitude away from their home close to nature. Mrs. Shouse later on donated the farm to the country with her intention to have the property preserved as a park. That donation marked the birth of the nation’s first and only national park for the

McLean’s Harris Teeter makes a food run fun

Harris TeeterLocated on the ground floor of the Crestwood Heights condominiums between Freddie Mac and the Galleria, Harris Teeter is open 24 hours and includes a pharmacy, wine consultant and free underground parking. Harris Teeter was the first grocery store in the Tysons Corner area. Previously Tysons area residents had to travel into downtown McLean for groceries or a pharmacy. Harris Teeter now draws customers from single family homes, condos and apartments along International Drive, Spring Hill Rd and Lewinsville Rd. Harris Teeter's salad bar, sushi bar and homemade pizzas attract the lunchtime business crowd, especially those from neighboring Freddie Mac. A brightly lit eating area, with a fully staffed Starbucks, includes an outdoor patio with seating for more than 20. It is also open through the evening for early dinners. Grocery shoppers will find a wide variety of fresh produce, including many organic items. There are plenty of free samples in the bakery, deli and cheese areas, too. The wine and beer aisle is smaller than you would expect but makes up for it in variety. They No. Carolina-based chain seems to have created a Wegman's, but on a smaller scale. All the amenities of the super-size store but in a smaller footprint. They even thought to include cup holders in the grocery carts so you can sip your latte as your shop. (and yes, the cups fit perfectly) Shoppers who park on the first level leave the store via the escalator while their cart rides in the nearby cart-o-later. And no worries if another "snowmaggeden" hits while you are shopping since all parking is underground, well lit and very clean. Their staff is very helpful. Their prices competitive. And their loyalty card is a must-have. Next time you are in Tysons Corner, take your eyes off the high rises and construction cranes and take a look inside Harris Teeter for a glimpse of the future. Homes for sale near Clock Tower Plaza

Clock Tower Plaza
The Clock Tower Plaza in Herndon, Va, and the area of apartments around it is great community to be a part of. It is right off of Centerville Rd. and you can see the Clock Tower from the many surrounding homes. In the plaza itself there is a wide range of goods and services. From the one of a kind pizzeria, Rubinos, to a tailors shop for clothes and shoes. There really is every kind of store that you can think of there. I myself can walk from my home to the Shopper's Warehouse and back in a matter of five minutes. There is a great place to go play pool, right above a Gold's gym. There are fast food and dine in restaurants, an auto service station, a gas station, and a good variety of small independently owned businesses. The community around the Plaza is a great place to live. There are many apartments and town houses centered around the plaza and Mcnair Elementary School. The people in the community are very diverse and there are many families with children. It is a great place for a child to grow up and make good lasting relationships. If there were three words I would use to describe the area, I would say convenient, diverse, and friendly. [nrl-listingsc city="Herndon" show_title=false]

The Mount Vernon Trail is a Northern Virginia amenity

Along the Mount Vernon Trail a jogger and dog exercise
The Mount Vernon trail is a paved passage with some different parts, including wooded overlooks, up and down hills, and above water straight shot path. This amenity has various activity spots abound, throughout the extensive spread of landscapes. In the colder season there may be less fishing done and less retention of fitness participating humans and dogs. For example, in the featured image, there are a dog and woman jogging along the Mount Vernon Trail amenity. With the busy busy busy way of life in Alexandria, Virginia (though Old Town's City of Alexandria is separate from Fairfax County's  Alexandria), the Mount Vernon Trail is a nice place to take a break from it all. However that does not mean the rest of the world stops. For example, along a 30 minute hiatus walk, you might see a helicopter over head, or one of the regular from or going to Ronald Reagan planes on their way. There are many homes available near this amenity, ranging from different features including water oriented, street accessible, with a shopping center in the subdivision, with a view, etc. The Mount Vernon Trail runs parallel to the George Washington Parkway which runs parallel to the Potomac River.

The Many Musicians of Old Town

If you like street music, then you'll find no better spot to wander than Old Town Alexandria. Through-out the week, especially on weekends, musicians gather in Old Town at street corners and near the waterfront to play music for tips and applause. Most are highly talented professionals, some are learning to play their instrument in front of a crowd. I enjoy them both in different ways. Here in Old Town Alexandria, you'll find everything from a lonely saxophone, to steel drums to an entire band. Below I've collected a few photos to give you a taste of Old Town's many musicians. This foursome was phenomenal singing and playing old time mountain music. It was a great throwback to the Carters because the gal in the front on the guitar was a great singer. The banjo player and bass were on point, and I love the texture that the mandolin (seated behind guitar) provided. bluegrass Glass Harp The glass harp as played by Jamie Turner is an old town treat one simply must hear in person to appreciate.

Many people feel that Old Town is the heart of Alexandria VA.

As the name implies, Old Town is the oldest part of Alexandria, a port in colonial times. Historic Old Town Alexandria is found along the Potomac, just inside the Woodrow Wilson Bridge and then north toward Reagan National Airport. Old Town is served by the King St. Metro and the King St. trolley. With over 100 restaurants, shops, boutiques, coffee shops, ice cream houses and more, there's always fun to be found in Old Town.
