Learn More About Potomac Yard Park In Alexandria
The Potomac Yard Park is a 23.4 acre neighborhood park located at 2501 Potomac Ave in Alexandria. The park was designed and constructed through a partnership between the Alexandria City Council and Pulte Homes. The park features picnic tables and pathways with ADA accessibility, outdoor stage area for the hosting of special events, Stormwater Management Ponds, Walking/Bicycle trails and passive seating areas with historical interpretations. Sports fanatics can enjoy park facilities such athletic fields, basketball courts, tennis courts and volleyball courts. There is a playground for kids to enjoy which is ADA accessible. The 11th Annual Del Ray Music Festival will be held on July 14 from 3 pm to 8 pm at the Pat Miller Neighborhood Square located at the intersection of Mount Vernon Avenue and Oxford Avenue in Del Ray Alexandria. The Annual Event celebrates the diverse and local musical talents in the Washington DC area This year's event will feature live music from local musicians who will be performing on two stages: Pat Miller Neighborhood Square and Bean Creative Stage. Food and refreshments will be provided by some of Alexandria's top restaurants with pop-up beer gardens to be provided by seven of Del Ray's top Restaurants. The event is free and open for all to come and enjoy.
The 17th Annual Alexandria King Street Art Festival will be held on Saturday September 21st and Sunday September 22nd at 220 King Street in Old Town Alexandria. The historic King Street will be transformed into a world class outdoor art gallery where art lovers can come and discover spectacular paintings, life size sculptures, jewelry, photography, ceramics and more. The annual event will feature festival booths lined along King Street between Washington and Union Street with over six blocks of artwork by more than 200 artists from the US and abroad. With more than $15 million in art been displayed visitors can purchase one of a kind wares and meet the artist behind the work. All are invited to attend this popular two (2) day annual event. 

The Contrabands and Freedmen Cemetery Memorial was established in 2014 at 1001 S Washington Street Alexandria. In 1864 Superintendent of Contrabands declared that the site be used as a cemetery due to the numerous death of many African Americans who fled to Alexandria after escaping from the Civil War. The burial of many African American troops was later moved to the Alexandria National Cemetery and as such the last burial at Contrabands and Freedmen Cemetery was done in January 1869.
