Nesbitt Realty helps first-time home-buyers realize their home-buying dreams.
Insurance is usually the last thing people worry about when they are buying a new home. According to the Insurance Information Institute, that's a mistake, because it will be an expense a buyer will have as long as they own the property.
Here are some key issues that the institute urges every buyer to consider:
What is the condition of the plumbing and electrical systems? Older and poorly maintained systems cost more to insure.
How far is the home from the fire department? A location close to the station usually means lower insurance costs.
Does the property meet current building codes? Up-to-date properties are safer and also cheaper to insure.
What about wind damage? If insurance against windstorms is required, is private insurance available or will the buyer have to rely on a state-run program? If there a windstorm deductible, how high is it?
Is the home vulnerable to flooding? Floods aren’t covered under a standard homeowner policy, although most major insurers will provide it through the National Flood Insurance program. How much the insurance costs depends on where the property is. More information is available at FloodSmart.gov.
Is there earthquake risk? Earthquake insurance requires an endorsement or a separate policy.
What is an ABR?
ABR is short for Accredited Buyer Representative. The Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR®) designation is designed for real estate buyer agents who focus on working directly with buyer-clients. When you work with an Accredited Buyer's Representative you know that your rights are represented by a professional agent who is trained and experienced in handling the needs of buyers. There are four requirements which a real estate agent must meet to attain and use the ABR® designation:
Previous and documented experience representing the needs of buyers and experience actually closing real estate sales.
Successful completion the Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR®) Designation Course.
Successful completion of one of the ABR® elective courses.
Membership in good standing in the Real Estate Buyer’s Agent Council (REBAC) and the National Association of REALTORS®.

When it comes to finding a place to live, almost every woman will agree that having close access to great shopping is a priority. With extreme gas prices, no one wants to drive far to spend their money or waste a precious clothing dollar on their gas tank. Tyson’s Corner is jam packed with plenty of shopping options from malls to shopping centers. Tyson’s Corner mall and Tyson’s
Grandma and granddaughter, after enjoying a family meal at Tysons II
Galleria are within walking distance from one another. The only thing that separates the two is the amount of money you are willing to spend.
Tyson’s Galleria caters to more upscale shoppers who are looking for designer style from children to menswear. It has several nice restaurants which include Maggiano’s Little Italy. The stores include Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Juicy Couture. I enjoyed going in and out of the shops and enjoying the pleasant atmosphere.
Tyson’s Corner Mall is a huge mall with three levels that include all sorts of stores and shops. I thought I would never get through walking around. It seemed that when I thought I had reached the end of it that more magically appeared. It had a play area for the kiddos, huge food court and other restaurants to choose from. I’m not sure how they got so many things in one place, but as a shopper, it was really nice. They also had a nice sized movie theater, which were an added benefit and a great escape from all the walking. This mall had just about every store you knew and could think of. I was able to go to Nordstrom, Macy’s, Gap, Old Navy, Coach, LL Bean, and Footlocker. There is no way to name all the stores I saw, but it was a shopper’s delight. The mall also had several smaller food courts to prevent shoppers from having to go to one section of the mall to replenish themselves. This was a smart idea by whoever designed this monstrosity of a mall. I left the mall satisfied with my purchases and workout.
Driving around the area, it appeared that you had more than enough shopping options to choose from whether you were in need of books, clothes, shoes, furniture, or jewelry. If having access to lots of different shopping options works for you, then Tyson’s Corner is definitely a place that could make you feel right at home.
At Tysons Corner Center where you can shop, dine, and be entertained. Tyson's now has new stores including Fink's Jewelers, Michael Kors, Vans, and many more on the way. After a great shopping experience you can dine at one of their many restaurants. You can chose from Asian, Italian, Chinese, Mexican and American. There is something for everyone.
Tysons also features several events through the summer. There are choices for children and adults. A movie theatre, Build-A-Bear, and a children's play area are some of the wonderful things to do at Tysons.
The mall is open Monday-Saturday 10:00a.m.-9:30p.m. and Sunday 11:00a.m.-7:00p.m. For more information, including gift cards and visitor information please contact Guest Services at 888-2tysons or 703-847-7300.
