Home for sale near Jones Point Park on the Potomac in Alexandria VA

Jones Point Park is owned by the National Park Service and its 52-plus acres comprise the largest open space in Old Town Alexandria VA. Jones Point is located on the Potomac River near the Woodrow Wilson Bridge in the southeast corner of Alexandria, Virginia. Jones Point is a nice place for a walk or picnic by the Potomac and is popular with Alexandria's bird watchers, dog owners and history buffs. In addition to open green space and river banks, Jones Point offers
  • two large soccer fields,
  • picnic areas with picnic tables,
  • walking and biking trails,
  • garden plots for rent,
  • two fishing piers built over two old ship ramps,
  • and a large ship dock north of the bridge along the river.
Jones Point LighthouseAlthough the National Park Service owns Jones Point Park, the Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities manages the park. The parks custodians strive to preserve and showcase the 9,000 years of human history evidenced at Jones Point. Recognizable touch-points like Jones Point Lighthouse from the middle of the 19th Century are found here along with artifacts from Native Americans and colonists from the early days of European settlement. During the first World War, Jones Point was an important shipbuilding site and remnants of that abandoned heritage are unearthed for visitors to see. The survey stones placed here under the direction and guidance of George Washington after 1790 mark the original boundaries of the District of Columbia. The land which George Washington surveyed for the Federal City was within the capital boundaries for 45 years, from February 27, 1801, until September 7, 1846, when Alexandria was ceded back into Northern Virginia by Congress. Jones Point Park is very accessible for residents of Old Town Alexandria, Ford's Landing, Porto Vecchio and Bearings South.

The second floor features the Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22. On the third floor is the Grotto Exhibit, an organization featuring the Master Masons. The fourth and fifth floors are covered with paintings, and historical documents. The sixth contains the Memorial Library. Once on the seventh floor you will experience murals of Masonic lessons. French Provincial style

Houses with garage
Kingstowne is in Alexandria VA
Balance and symmetry are the ruling characteristics of this formal style. Homes are often brick with detailing in copper or slate. Windows and chimneys are symmetrical and perfectly balanced, at least in original versions of the style. Defining features include a steep, high, hip roof; balcony and porch balustrades; rectangle doors set in arched openings; and double French windows with shutters. Second-story windows usually have a curved head that breaks through the cornice. The design had its origins in the style of rural manor homes, or chateaus, built by the French nobles during the reign of Louis XIV in the mid-1600s. The French Provincial design was a popular Revival style in the 1920s and again in the 1960s. French Provincial revivals can be found in upscale neighborhoods throughout Northern Virginia.

My Visit to the Army Navy Country Club

Yesterday, my brother and I attended an Objective Rally Point event with the Alexandria Veteran Business Enterprise Center at the Army Navy Country Club.
Arlington real estate
For real estate in Arlington VA contact Nesbitt Realty
We arrived 10 minutes early. Upon entrance there was a very timeless and grand staircase that separated the floors, while simultaneously showcasing the interior of the different levels. Next, after climbing the stairs, hanging up our coats, and being given our name tags from the receptionist, we entered the main banquet room. In the main banquet room we networked over coffee. After that, breakfast was served and I found a place in line, and filled up my plate with scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, and fresh fruit. Following finishing breakfast, speakers began their presentations. Some of the speakers that stood out in my memory include a former West Wing actress, who spoke about Veterans courts and Brigadier General Mark S. Martins, who spoke on a range of topics including military history and law. The event was hosted by Fluet Huber Hoang PLCC.

What is a “National”?

A Single family house at 321 Raymond Ave E Alexandria VA 22301
Wilmar Park is in Alexandria 22301
Born out of the fundamental need for shelter, National-style homes, whose roots are set in Native American and pre-railroad dwellings, remain unadorned and utilitarian. The style is characterized by rectangular shapes with (insert link side gabled roofs) or square layouts with pyramidal roofs. The gabled-front-and-wing style pictured here is the most prevalent type with a side-gabled wing attached at a right angle to the gabled front. Two subsets of the National style, known as "hall-and-parlor family" and "I-house," are characterized by layouts that are two rooms wide and one room deep. Massed plan styles, recognized by a layout more than one room deep, often sport side gables and shed-roofed porches. You'll find National homes throughout the country.
