Ubiquitous up and down the East Coast, Federal-style architecture dates from the late 1700s and coincided with a reawakening of interest in classical Greek and Roman culture. Builders began to add swags, garlands, elliptical windows, and other decorative details to rectangular Georgian houses. The style that emerged resembles Georgian, but is more delicate and more formal. Many Federal-style homes have an arched Palladian window on the second story above the front door. The front door usually has sidelights and a semicircular fanlight.

Along the Mount Vernon Trail a jogger and dog exercise
The Mount Vernon trail is a paved passage with some different parts, including wooded overlooks, up and down hills, and above water straight shot path. This amenity has various activity spots abound, throughout the extensive spread of landscapes. In the colder season there may be less fishing done and less retention of fitness participating humans and dogs. For example, in the featured image, there are a dog and woman jogging along the Mount Vernon Trail amenity.
With the busy busy busy way of life in Alexandria, Virginia (though Old Town's City of Alexandria is separate from Fairfax County's Alexandria), the Mount Vernon Trail is a nice place to take a break from it all. However that does not mean the rest of the world stops. For example, along a 30 minute hiatus walk, you might see a helicopter over head, or one of the regular from or going to Ronald Reagan planes on their way.
There are many homes available near this amenity, ranging from different features including water oriented, street accessible, with a shopping center in the subdivision, with a view, etc. The Mount Vernon Trail runs parallel to the George Washington Parkway which runs parallel to the Potomac River.

Carlyle District as seen from Union Station
Union Station in Alexandria VA is a historic train station located between King and Duke Streets at the foot of the George Washington National Masonic Memorial. The station is within site of the USPTO and nearby Carlyle District. The station backs up against the King St. Metro, making it an excellent transfer point for riders of the VRE (Virginia Railway Express). Both Amtrak and VRE stop at the station and DASH and Metrobus lines stop at the King St. Station.
Alexandria's Union Station shares a name with Union Station in nearby Washington DC. Locals usually refer to the station in Washington as Union Station and the station in Alexandria as Alexandria Station. Both stations were so-named because at one time they united several lines/companies. The Amtrak code is for this station is ALX.

The terminal itself was built in 1905 in the Federal Revival style. Although it has been renovated and improved the original 1905 terminal is still in use. The memorial before the terminal is dedicate to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The menu sports a variety of classic Mexican and Salvadorean dishes. The alcohol served includes domestic and import beers, margaritas and wine. My favorite entree is the homemade pork and cheese pupusas with a side of cabbage and salsa. The mellow pupusa is contrasted in flavor by the crunchy cabbage drenched in hot salsa. This is a filling meal at a good price.
You know them by their odd-sized and often tall windows, their lack of ornamentation, and their unusual mixtures of wall materials--stone, brick, and wood, for instance.
Single-family house at Bellevue Forest is in Arlington 22207
Architects designed Contemporary-style homes (in the Modern family) between 1950 and 1970, and created two versions: the flat-roof and gabled types. The latter is often characterized by exposed beams. Both breeds tend to be one-story tall and were designed to incorporate the surrounding landscape into their overall look.
In Northern Virginia, one of my favorite contemporary neighborhoods is Hollin Hills, located just off Fort Hunt Road in Alexandria's Mount Vernon District. The homes here feature contemporary lines and floor to ceiling windows in an "urban forest". That is to say Hollin Halls feels like deep woods despite being just a mile or so from the City of Alexandria.

Nesbitt Realty can help you buy and sell real estate in Franconia.
An old part of Franconia, Guilford can be found intersecting both Kingstowne and Rose Hill. While many communities have begun to flow with these modern times, Guilford has managed to maintain its idyllic feel.
Guilford can be found north of Telegraph Road, east of South Van Dorn Street, west of Rose Hill Drive and south of Franconia Road. It is characterized by small, disconnected homes situated in large land areas (half-acre lots are quite commonplace), with some homes occupying as much as two lots.
Not much of a transportation hub, it would be odd to find pedestrians and vehicles clogging the streets of this town – thus, it is safe to say that Guilford is a relatively quiet community.
Some of the community establishments found here are Thomas Edison High School found in the northeast area, which is also the location of a post office. The Greendale Golf course and Washington Golf’s driving range can also be found in Guilford.
As a means of entertainment, Guilford citizens often make their way to Kingstown’s strip mall for a movie or to King Street Blues for a drink or two.
