Congressional Award Gold Medal To Be Rewcieved By Fairfax Co. Teen

Young students nationwide who have achieved extraordinary things are set to be honored by Congress later this month. And a Fairfax County, Virginia, the teen is among them. The Congressional Award Gold Medal, which is Congress’ highest honor for young Americans, is given out annually, and about 500 students will receive one this year. National Council For Adoption Honors McLean Couple

The National Council for Adoption (NCFA) in Alexandria, a leading voice among national adoption and child welfare organizations, announced Dr. Wayne Winston Sharp, Ph.D. of McLean, and his wife Linda Whitbeck Sharp the recipients of NCFA's The Ruby Lee Piester Adoption Award. Mount Vernon Philanthropist Recieved 2019 Chancellor’s Award

A civic activist and philanthropist from Mount Vernon, Glenn Fatzinger, received the 2019 Chancellor’s Award for Leadership in Philanthropy for Virginia’s Community Colleges. He received the award in the spring. The award was given to acknowledge his longstanding support of Virginia’s Community Colleges. This included co-founding the Northern Virginia Community College Educational Foundation, and the establishment of an endowed nursing scholarship in honor of his wife, Harriet H. Fatzinger, who died in 2011. Two partial nursing scholarships are awarded annually to Northern Virginia Community College students in her memory. Continue reading
