Rotary of Great Falls Celebrates Ten Years

Ten years is an anniversary to celebrate, and the Rotary of Great Falls did it in great style. A gala reception at River Bend Country Club provided the occasion for remembering the club’s projects, speakers, and friends. President Stephen Clark introduced Master of Ceremonies Jeff Thinnes, the dynamo life-long Rotarian who founded the club. On that occasion, 85 newly minted Rotarians gathered at River Bend, a number that so amazed Rotary International that Thinnes was invited to speak at the international conference in Thailand that year. Tysons’ The Boro To Welcome Sandlot, An Events Pop-Up

Bethesda, Maryland-based The Meridian Group has been developing The Boro, a massive mixed-use development by the Greensboro Metro station in Tysons. It has brought on entrepreneurs Ian Callender and Kevin Hallums, the team behind Sandlot pop-up events and cultural spaces in D.C., to transform a development parcel at 1640 Boro Place into Sandlot Tysons. Golf Courses To Be Reopened In Fairfax County

Fairfax County Park Authority has announced that its phased reopening would open golf courses on May 8. Laurel Hill Golf Club members Kelly Towns from Burke, and Jim Poodiack from Springfield, were among the first to get tee times. Towns enjoyed coming during work breaks before the club closure due to the coronavirus outbreak. Poodiack was there because he had not played for a while and hoped the activity would aid his overall fitness. Continue reading

Kevin James has been hired as the new Executive Director of the Vienna Youth Soccer. Previously he worked as the Technical Director and had a successful two years leading the technical organization, developing coaches and players and delivering “Lifetime of Soccer” ideals on and off the field.
