According to the 2018 estimates released by the United States Census Bureau, the southern and western counties in the United States have experienced the largest increase in population. Although Fairfax County did not have a close competition with these top counties, the increase in population between 2017 and 2018 was among the top in the state. The population in Fairfax County increased by 0.3% between July 1, 2017 and July 1, 2018.
