The 39th Annual Ballyshaners' St Patrick's Day Parade will be held on March 7 2020 in Old Town Alexandria. This year's Grand Marshal for the event is owner of Daniel O'Connell's Irish Restaurant and Bar, John Brennan. Emerging Writers Festival To Host Writers’ Event In Old Town Alexandria

The Emerging Writers Festival chaired by Old Town Books founder Ally Kirkpatrick is set to host a series of events in Old Town Alexandria from August 16 - 18. The festival will include seminars and workshops from award winning editors, authors and producers. The events will take place at The Atheneum 201 Prince Street with some events to be held at ALX Community, Vikriya Lab and Hotel Indigo.  Ally Kirkpatrick states that the festival "aims to celebrate, educate and inspire emerging writers". The event will also cater to non writers with events for readers and book lovers. book fair and public author talks.
