There are a few key concepts that any prospective purchaser should know when seeking real estate by zip code:
  1. ZIP Codes are categories for grouping mailing addresses and are not exact geographic regions.
  2. The centroid of a ZIP Code may be in one County and the associated city/town in another.
  3. In rural areas, a single ZIP Code may be used for cities and towns in several different Counties / Independent Cities.
  4. ZIP Code “areas” can overlap, be subsets of each other, or be artificial constructs with no geographic area.
  5. ZIP Codes are only loosely tied to cities.

Thus, to deal with the danger, rewards were granted for those who could trap those fierce creatures. A parcel of land in this region was purchased by Wolf Trap’s Founder, Catherine Filene Shouse who chose to preserve the name Wolf Trap. She developed the property into a farm intending to give her children solitude away from their home close to nature. Mrs. Shouse later on donated the farm to the country with her intention to have the property preserved as a park. That donation marked the birth of the nation’s first and only national park for the

What is it about this Northern Virginian county that caused an estimate of 1,015,302 (as of the April 2008 consensus) to make this part of the country their dwelling place? Formed in 1742 from the northern part of Prince William County, and named after Thomas Fairfax, 6th Lord Fairfax of Cameron, this county is bordered by Potomac River and friendly neighboring regions such as Arlington County, Alexandria, Falls Church, Loudoun County and Prince William County. Studies conducted have shown that most of the adult citizens, who call Fairfax County their home, are four-year college degree holders and a good number of them have reached even higher educational attainment. Research has also shown that, aside from being the first county in the US to achieve a median household income of six figures, Fairfax also has the second highest median household income (next to Loudoun County) among counties with 250,000 or more residents. With those statistics in mind, potential residents can have some level of assurance that they are living among some of the best citizens the nation has to offer. It can also be a plus that they’ll be able to rub elbows with the county’s upper class society.

46th Springfield Art Guild Anniversary

The Springfield Art Guild's (SAG) 46th anniversary was well attended, and very culturally enriching. The event was hosted from 6pm-9pm at the Richard Byrd Public Library. The event kicked off with socializing over refreshments and viewing of SAG members artwork. Next, there was a speech given by some of the founding members (i.e. Judy Wengrovitz and her husband). This speech highlighted different eras of SAG and Northern Virginia in general. Can you imagine a time when Fairfax County homes cost 15k, yearly salaries were 9k, dirt roads were not uncommon, and the Pentagon (built in 1949) was a recent edition to the region? Following some SAG updates (e.g. new website transition, Springfield Town Center proposition, etc.), the event concluded with a speech from a Torpedo Factory / Art League representative. Her speech covered a variety of art related topics (e.g. pricing works, gallery submissions process, tips on framing, etc.). Overall, the SAG 46th anniversary was a milestone which marked past accomplishments (e.g. 5k donation from local area builders) and current developments to usher in the next chapter for this art based community.

The Markets offer a wide variety of freshly picked fruits, vegetables, and cut flowers. There are also fresh eggs, baked goods, honey and cider to purchase. Milk and cheese products, along with a wide array of meat products, round out the edible delights. All Fairfax County markets (except the Frying Pan market) host Fairfax County Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Plant Clinics. Citizens can bring plant or insect samples for pest identification or disease diagnosis.
