Founders Park
Founders Park is a peaceful riverside park that borders the Potomac River. The park is located at 351 N Union Street in Old Town, Alexandria. The riverfront area of the park was once called West Point in the early 1700s. In the 1700s and 1800s the area around the Park was once used for tobacco storage, a landing point for slaves from Africa and the site of a notorious 'fish town'. In October 1981 the park was acquired by the City of Alexandria and designated as a passive park for everyone to enjoy. The park is maintained by the Founders Park Community Association which is an organization dedicated to the upkeep of the park's beautiful green space and to maintain its designation as a passive park.
