Free Thanksgiving Meal To Be Provided By Hunger Free Alexandria

Hunger Free Alexandria will be hosting its 6th annual Alexandria Gratitude Table on Thursday November 28th at Meade Memorial Episcopal Church 322 N Alfred Street in Alexandria. The free mean event is the only kind in the city and it is well supported by churches, volunteers and charitable organizations. The meal which is attended by hundreds will include 11 turkeys and sides from Old Country Buffet and homemade offerings from dozens of volunteers.

Schools Are Closed But Kids Will Keep Getting School Meals

Schools in Fairfax County are out due to summer vacations. But the School systems have announced that they will keep providing free breakfast and lunch to any child under 18 through the summer. The four school divisions, Fairfax, Prince William, Manassas, and Manassas Park, are participating in the USDA Summer Food Service program, sponsored by the Virginia Department of Health. The best part is that in most instances, kids don’t have to attend the school or participate in the free/reduced lunch plans to receive free meals. Continue reading
