All You Need To Know About R.E. Lee Camp Hall Museum In Alexandria
The R.E. Lee Camp Hall is a classic Greek Revival residence located at 806 Prince Street in Alexandria. Built in 1852 the building was once the residence of Dr Parson Johnson before being converted into a hospital during the Civil War. The Freedom House Museum located at 1315 Duke St in Alexandria holds a very tragic story about slavery in Alexandria. The Museum was once the headquarters and holding pen for Franklin and Armfield, the largest domestic trading firm in the US. During the salve trade persons were bought and forced to the slave markets in Natchez, Mississippi and New Orleans by foot or by ship. The Museum is operated by the Office of Historic Alexandria.
