Alexandria Restaurants Make Food Donations To Help Fight Hunger

Approximately 15,000 Alexandria residents live below the poverty line and food hardship is a common issue faced by many of these residents. This is the reason why in 2019 Fontaine Caffe & Creperie donated about 250 gallons of its 100% vegan soup and thousands of baguettes to the meals program at Meade Memorial Episcopal Church on North Alfred Street. Free Thanksgiving Meal To Be Provided By Hunger Free Alexandria

Hunger Free Alexandria will be hosting its 6th annual Alexandria Gratitude Table on Thursday November 28th at Meade Memorial Episcopal Church 322 N Alfred Street in Alexandria. The free mean event is the only kind in the city and it is well supported by churches, volunteers and charitable organizations. The meal which is attended by hundreds will include 11 turkeys and sides from Old Country Buffet and homemade offerings from dozens of volunteers.

Hunger Free Alexandria Benefit From Catholic Charities Donation

On October 16th the St. Lucy Food Project and ALIVE!, members of Hunger Free Alexandria (HFA) benefited from donations from the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington. The donations which was made in front of Alexandria's City Hall included 5,000 pounds of non perishable food. The donation is a part of the Catholic Charities ongoing mission to address hunger in Alexandria. Continue reading
