A Must Attend Summer Event In Old Town – Old Town Beer, Wine And Dog Festival

Old Town Alexandria will come alive on August 17th with the hosting of the Old Town Beer, Wine and Dog Festival. The event which will be held at the Waterfront Park will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The goal of the festival "is to provide an alternative to the typical adoption procedure by combining food, drinks and dogs in a social environment". The festival will see guests trying local beer, wine and food enjoying live music and playing activities with dogs. Patrons attending the event without a dog can enjoy activities with the sheltered or fostered dogs who will be on location looking for a new home. The dogs will be able to run loose in a fenced area with tents, water bowls and ice baths for them to enjoy. Another season of free summer concerts with all of your favorite bands and some new ones as well is currently going on at Herndon Friday Night Live. Every Friday night from May through August crowds gather at the Town Green in historic downtown Herndon (777 Lynn Street) beginning at 6:30 pm to hear music from popular local bands and acts from up and down the East Coast. Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park’s first Spring in the Park was celebrated by the visitors this past weekend. The park plans to repeat this event annually. On Saturday, an event named  Mules, Music and More was held. The event featured Dolly, one of the mules that pull the Charles F. Mercer canal boat. Dolly was just back from her winter at Mount Vernon in Virginia, ready to greet visitors, especially the children who couldn’t keep from petting her and asking Ranger Mark Myers questions about Dolly and the other mules who will summer at Great Falls.
