Lake Braddock Secondary School Celebrated Commencement

On the warm morning of June 10, Lake Braddock Secondary School seniors and their friends and families gathered at Jiffy Lube Live to celebrate their commencement—the first time they all gathered together since before the pandemic. The ceremony opened with the presentation of colors by the school’s JROTC, followed by a recorded performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” by singers from Lake Braddock Secondary School and elementary schools from the area. Reston Hospital Installs HOPE For The Holidays

The healthcare workers at Reston Hospital did something to control the negative emotions. They strengthened their resolve, believing, holding onto hope, that circumstances would improve even in the face of adversity. People passing by Town Center Drive and New Dominion Parkway in Reston can see it from a distance – the four large block letters H-O-P-E, brilliantly illuminating the steep hill at Reston Hospital. Rotary of Great Falls Recognized As Top Achiever

The Rotary of Great Falls has been recently named as one of its top achievers for 2019-2020 by Rotary District 7610. The club was honored in several categories. It received plaudits for several youth projects, including sponsoring two teenagers for Rotary’s Leadership Institute; its Interact Club’s Habitat for the Humanity building project in Lynchburg; the new Rotaract Club (serving 18-30-year-olds) launch of its Flags for Heroes, the launch of Cooper Middle School’s 4-Way Test essay contest; and sponsorship and leadership of Wolf Trap’s First Time Campers weekend targeted at children from challenged backgrounds. Fairfax High School’s Junior Uses 3D Printing To Make Protective Gear

A Fairfax County teen is using 3D printing technology to make sure first responders and local businesses are getting the protective gear they need to serve the community. Aashray Manchanda, a junior at Fairfax High School, has been working with 3D printing technology as part of a robotics club for years. He was keen to look for a way to make a difference during the pandemic. He said, "That sort of inspired me to put my engineering skills to use". Continue reading
