Active Fairfax Transportation Plan To Be Developed This Month

With the warm weather approaching, Fairfax County is holding a series of meetings to hear thoughts about active transportation in the county, and this input will be used in their Active Fairfax Transportation Plan to integrate the existing Bicycle Master and Trails Plans. Throughout April, every Supervisor’s district will have virtual public meetings to find out how county residents travel by biking, walking, rolling, hiking, running, and riding in and around the local communities. New Inova Hospital To Be Built In Springfield To Complement Mount Vernon

Inova Health System plans to expand its services to the Springfield community on recently acquired property adjacent to the current Inova Springfield HealthPlex. The new hospital at Springfield and an Inova HealthPlex at Oakville Triangle/Potomac Yard will extend and integrate with Inova’s nationally recognized system of services in Northern Virginia and will complement the Inova Alexandria and Inova Mount Vernon Hospitals that serve the eastern region today. Revised Landmark Mall Master Plan Approved By Council

The city council approved the revised master plan of Landmark Mall, Alexandria’s major West End development project, during its public hearing on Saturday. The new master plan was a refinement of the 2009 master plan as per the Department of Planning and Zoning staff report. The revised master plan features a transportation hub to connect the Landmark Mall area with the rest of the West End transit corridor, a revised plan for the site’s Duke Street crossing to improve safety, an emphasis on affordable housing and open space for the West End community – including 3 1/2 acres of public open space – and recommendations for a potential fire station and school.
