Something for Everyone: Bull Run Park

Bull Run Regional Park is located in Centreville, Virginia and is a great place for family outings, group meetings, and organized events. The venue includes several great services including a water park and several hiking trails. For those seeking a nice, quiet weekend out, Bull Run offers picnic table shelters and large grassy fields for recreations. This is great place to bring your pets who will have plenty of room to run around, or your children who will have a great time playing frisbee or tossing around a football. The park also offers several marked hiking trails that include several scenic paths through the park. Feel free to bring your horse: the park also provides several equestrian trails! Bull Run is known for it’s picturesque and aesthetically pleasing foliage and plant life. There is also a water park known as Atlantis for children to enjoy over the summer. Similar to parks such as Splashdown, the park offers birth party hosting and has multiple pools, a water cannon, a play island with three slides, and closed/opened water slides along with swimming aquatic classes in group, private, and semi-private settings. The park also offers several community events such as group nature walks and bird observation trails. This April, they are hosting a Easter Egg Hunt for children ages 2-8. Occoquan Regional Park Historical and Recreational

Occoquan Regional Park located at 9751 Ox Road in Lorton VA 22079 conveniently situated along Occoquan River and right across the Town of Occoquan offering over 400 acres of recreational space to everyone. Facilities:

Picnic Shelters and Gazebos are available for rent and the option of having a Moon Bounce, Rock Wall and even a mechanical ride can add more fun into the occasion. Turning Point Plaza is a memorial dedicated to the women suffragists who were imprisoned at the Occoquan Workhouse in the 1900’s for defending their right to vote. The reports regarding the situation of the imprisoned suffragists led to the 19th Amendment permitting women to freely vote. Re-enactments and displays are featured at Turning Point Plaza at Occoquan Regional Park.

Lake Ridge Park Golf and Marina

Located at 12350 Cotton Mill Dr in Woodbridge VA 22192 and opened in 1992, Lake Ridge Park Golf and Marina was skillfully designed by Lindsay Irvin. Lake Ridge Park Golf and Marina offers a golf course, 9 hole par 3 length course, driving range, picnic facilities and boating trips out on the Occoquan River. The course is suitable for beginners and the young ones as well, without having to spend so much money.

Old Hickory Golf Club

Located at 11921 Chanceford Drive in Woodbridge VA 22192, Old Hickory Golf Club keeps the tradition of golfing with the tradition golfing attire. With that in mind, one can expect the challenge of a good golfing challenge at the course. Old Hickory also offers a much updated practice area of a putting green, short game area and driving range, which features an indoor golf academy with digital video analysis along with professional teaching staff. Certain events such as weddings, banquets and golf outings are also welcomed to be hosted at the Golf Club.

Prince William Forest Park

The federally threatened orchid Isotria medeoloides, a small whorled pogonia is being proudly protected by Prince William Forest Park as well as the Eastern Box Turtle which a type of reptile with the longest life span. The Prince William Forest Park is a complete forest ecosystem offering residents and visitors the beautiful experience of nature’s blessings of plant, animal, reptile and land. The park is a great learning tool for children and teachers can arrange educational trips to give students an on hand study of their lessons. But the park is not only for learning, it also offers 37 miles of hiking trails and 21 miles of bicycle trails.

Occoquan Regional Park

Offering over 400 acres of spacious recreation fun, historic remnants and the remembrance of the women suffragists that were imprisoned there in the 1900, Occoquan Regional Park is the perfect place to spend time with family and friends. The park features walking trails, snack bar, athletic fields, batting cage, picnic shelter, marina building and boating ramp and storage.

Leesylvania State Park

Opened in 1992, Leesylvania State Park is located at 2001 Daniel K. Ludwig Drive. Woodbridge VA 22191 with 542 acres of park space bordered by the Potomac River, Neabsco Creek and Powells Creek. The Park features exciting opportunities of fun and adventure for families and friends and even an office outing. Overnight facilities are available as well as camping sites.  Although swimming is not allowed, one can enjoy wading and sunning along the beach of Potomac River. Excellent fishing can also be done at the park where catfish, perch, striped bass and largemouth bass are highly popular. Picnic shelters, gift shops, visitor center and an environmental education center can be found in the park where nature and history programs are offered.

Chinn Aquatics and Fitness Center

Located at 13025 Chinn Park Drive in Woodbridge VA 22192, Chinn Aquatics and Fitness Center offer exceptional health fitness services such as yoga, exercise, kickboxing, swimming, weights, sauna, pools and professional one on one training. The facilities also feature racquetball courts, gymnasium, and an outdoor pavilion. The pools available are a leisure pool with depth of 3ft 8inches and a 40 meter heated indoor pool and zero depth walking entry. The center is open to both children and adults.

These programs and other educational programs are available all year round.
