Is it time to take the plunge into the home buyers' world?
If the idea of purchasing your first home or just buying the next home is on your mind, I have some thoughts to add to the collection you've already been making in your own mind. Sometimes moving seems like an exciting experience and other times just a nuisance. The act of actual moving is totally irrelevant, though when it comes to actually achieving movers happiness.
In order to gauge the level of success you've achieved from a move some factors must be taken into account. The first that I've noticed when trying to understand this is whether or not I find myself smiling on the way home or annoyed, dreading another night there. Where we lay our head at night is a big part of happiness. Finding a place that draws us to it is a key to achieving the level of happiness that we've dreamed about for probably all our lives. I know I have an ideal mind set and when heading home over the years, different houses and apartments that I've lived in have conjured up thoughts of peace as well as dread.
This is why I have a suggestion if you are moving into a new area. Do you know the neighborhood? Do you know the neighbors? Do you feel comfortable with your morning and evening commute?
If any of these make you a bit hesitant, please do some research before buying and dedicating yourself to an area. Maybe now is the time to rent a home to take a year and investigate the location a bit. This may give greater insight into the desired location you want to buy. Maybe something just isn't right. If so, the lease will end and you can pick up the iMac and the six iPads and just move the family.
When it finally feels right, it'll feel right and then you know without a doubt that you're ready to lay down roots in the area. If now is the time to test out new areas, check out the guide below and the listings that just may help you on your search for happiness.

"I care about my clients and enjoy making their dreams come true."
Condo Alexandria invites you to employ our expertise if you have an immediate and specific rental need. If you choose Condo Alexandria to represent your interests, your agent will work with you and not for any particular landlord or condo association and best of all there is no charge to you the tenant.
The landlord has an agent. Do you?
The landlord is represented by a "listing agent" who works to sell the lease and represent the landlord. Listing agents are motivated to represent a specific property rather than any particular renter.
In our capacity as rental agents, Condo Alexandria works for the renter. Our services are most useful to renters who need or want an expert opinion to find the best rental for a specific and immediate need.
Our agents already know the area. We don't need to drive across town to know what's there. If you have a question about a specific community, there is a good chance we've already been there. As your agent, Condo Alexandria will search through thousands of listings and then take you to rentals that best suit your budget, commute, preferences and needs.
Some renters don't need an agent.
If you're the type of renter who doesn't mind the risk of putting yourself at the mercy of the apartment buildings and listing agents; or if you're already a real estate pro, then you might not need a rental agent. You don't need a rental agent if:.
you don't need an expert to represent your side of the transaction;
you're not moving within 45 days;
you don't need any expert advice about what's available in Northern Virginia.
Renters who do not need or want any representation can by-pass Condo Alexandria and contact the listing agent to view properties listed on our website. The listing agent is found on our website at the bottom of each listing.
Who needs a rental agent?
You need a rental agent only if:
you want an advocate for your rights and your application;
you're moving within the next 45 days;
you want an expert opinion in your home search.
Our clients tell us what they want, and we find that rental (if it exists).

Renting might not be the same level of commitment as buying but it is still a commitment and it is important to make the best possible choice. Signing on the dotted line means that you are committing to a property in {Location_Name} for a defined period of time. Before you sign a rental agreement it is important to consider all your options.
You need to decide whether the property meets your requirements. Is it within your budget, is it big enough, is it in the right area and does it offer you the lifestyle that you are looking for? These are all questions that you need to answer before you sign a lease. A lease is more flexible than buying but it is important to remember that you are still committing to renting the property for a certain time period.
It is best to look at a number of properties and consider all your options before making a final decision. However, the sheer number of properties out there can make the process quite daunting. A good rental agent can help you narrow down your choices so that you are able to choose the property that best suits your needs.
