Route 28 Widening Set To Begin In Fairfax County

Construction preparations begin Monday in Fairfax County to widen Virginia Route 28 from near the Prince William County line to the interchange at Route 29 in Centreville. The 2 1/2-mile stretch of state road will be widened from four to six lanes between the bridge over Bull Run, located just south of Compton Road, up to Route 29, shortly before the entrances to Interstate 66. Poplar Tree Road Bridge Opens In Chantilly

The Poplar Tree Road extension and bridge over Route 28 in Chantilly has now opened. It connects Walney and Stringfellow roads on the east side of Route 28 with Stonecroft Boulevard and Westfields Boulevard on the west side. It features a shared-use path linking to the new E.C. Lawrence Park access road. The bridge also gives bicyclists and pedestrians improved access to the park, especially those living on the west side of Route 28. Continue reading
