Turning Point Suffragist Memorial Officially Dedicated In Fairfax County

A memorial honoring the women who fought for their right to vote was dedicated in Fairfax County, Virginia, on Sunday. The Turning Point Suffragist Memorial aims to tell the entire seven-decade story of the suffrage movement. A major feature is a commemorative wall. “It lists the nearly 100 suffragists who were imprisoned in 1917,” said Nancy Lyons Sargeant, chair of the memorial’s association at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. IT Job Fair For Women In DC Area To Be Held Virtually

More than 40 companies with D.C.-area IT jobs to fill will take part in a virtual job fair on Thursday hosted by trade association Women in Technology.  The job fair will feature companies including Amazon, Capital One, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Accenture, and Geico. The event is sponsored by the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority. The aim of the job fair is specifically to connect women technology professionals with roles in STEM-based fields in the D.C. metro area. Continue reading

Fairfax County Celebrates Women’s History Month 2020 By Honoring “Valiant Women of the Vote”

Fairfax County Commission for Women, in concert with their Women's History Month 2020 Celebration, honored three "Valiant Women of the Vote," Jane Barker of Clifton, Cypriana McCray of Reston and Laura McKie formerly of West Springfield. These women were honored at a presentation and reception held in the forum of the Fairfax County Government Building on March 10 immediately preceding the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors meeting.
