Alexandria Bicycle Committee To Launch Mentorship Program For New Bike Commuters

With the pending shutdown of the Metro for the summer the Alexandria Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee, a volunteer organization that promotes walking, biking and other active transport has launched a new mentorship program for commuters who are willing to bike to work during the shutdown. The program, which is coordinated by Josephine Liu will match mentees with a mentor who will assist them with specific needs such as planning a stress free route, riding safely and confidently in traffic and maintaining their work attire after the commute. In addition to teaching the mentees, mentors can ride along with them to ensure they have a safe and successful commute. The mentors in the program are all experienced riders who hail from various backgrounds. These mentors live or work in Alexandria and they possess years of experience in teaching bicycling as another means of transport. In addition to assisting individuals with their daily commute to work, the program can also help interested persons in recreational riding or using their bikes to run errands. https://alexandrialivingmagazine.com/news/alexandria-launches-bike-mentorship-program-for-new-bike-com/
