The Institute for Defense Analyses will soon acquire the funds for its long awaited Potomac Yard Headquarters. The Alexandria City Council has approved the issuance of up to $249.4 million in Industrial Development Authority for the acquisition, construction and furnishings of the new headquarters to be located at 701 E. Glebe Road. The new headquarters will comprise of two six story towers over a two story base along with two stories of below grade parking.
Eugene Simpson Stadium Park is located at 426 East Monroe Avenue in Del Ray Alexandria. The park is a 9.94 acres open area which connects various points of the Del Ray neighborhood. The City of Alexandria developed the park in the 1950's after it was used as a train station and an area for many Civil War era houses which included an Aims/Poor house.
Do you love speed? Do you love fashion? Then the Old Town Festival of Speed & Style is just for you. The event which will be held on May 19 2019 on King Street in Old Town will showcase dozens of rare and exotic cars made famous by their speed, performance and elegance. The inaugural event will include an eclectic mix of sports and exotic cars from the 1950's through the 1980's. Patrons will be able to view cars such as Ferrari, Jaguar, Porsche, Austin-Healey, Cobra and Mercedes. Fashion demonstrations will also be presented by the Old Town Boutique District with live music by local musicians throughout the day. A variety of vendor booths and other areas of display will be available at the event. Admission is free and open to the entire public.
