1-Cent Cut In Tax Rate Approved By Fairfax County

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors voted 9-1 on a budget plan that includes a 1-cent decrease in the real estate tax rate, but rising property values will result in bigger tax bills later this year in the Virginia county. Active Fairfax Transportation Plan To Be Developed This Month

With the warm weather approaching, Fairfax County is holding a series of meetings to hear thoughts about active transportation in the county, and this input will be used in their Active Fairfax Transportation Plan to integrate the existing Bicycle Master and Trails Plans. Throughout April, every Supervisor’s district will have virtual public meetings to find out how county residents travel by biking, walking, rolling, hiking, running, and riding in and around the local communities. Tysons To Have Mass Vaccination Site Next Week

A large-scale COVID-19 vaccination clinic is opening in Fairfax County, Virginia, on Tuesday. The vaccination center is at the former Lord & Taylor store at Tysons Corner Center, at 1961 Chain Bridge Road, in Tysons, the Fairfax County government said in a statement Friday. The site will have the capacity to vaccinate 3,000 people a day, as vaccine supplies allow, Board of Supervisors chairman Jeff McKay said in the statement. Continue reading

Penelope "Penny" Walke, a 14-year-old Freshman at Langley High, received the Girl Scouts of the USA Lifesaving Medal of Honor for her role in saving her father's life in June 2021.
