Police Members Honored By Fairfax City

Fairfax City Police Lt. Michael Bartholme and Dispatcher Cynthia Tetterton were honored, last Tuesday, March 2, with the Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW) Silver Patrick Henry Medal. New Bridge On Washington & Old Dominion Opens

A new bridge on the Washington & Old Dominion trail opens Friday and is designed to make travel safer for pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers. The new W&OD Bridge over Route 29, next to Interstate 66, opens Friday afternoon, the Virginia Department of Transportation said in a statement. It crosses over Route 29 at the intersection with Fairfax Drive and will keep cyclists and pedestrians separate from cars at the intersection. Continue reading

Food For Neighbors Received A Record 20,000 Pounds Of Food

Food For Neighbors celebrates receiving over 20,000 pounds of food during its March 6th Red Bag Program food collection. This is a record amount of food for the nonprofit, and the accomplishment highlights communities in Northern Virginia that step up to support students who struggle with food security. McLean’s Resident Helps Seniors Get Vaccinated

A McLean resident has become a popular person in her neighborhood and across the region for her ability to get COVID-19 vaccination appointments on websites that other people find excruciatingly difficult to navigate. Katja Hom helped an immigrant family who speaks Spanish and was having trouble navigating the website to get vaccination appointments at a local Safeway. Fairfax County To Hold Virtual Teen Job Fairs In 2021

Fairfax County's teen job fairs will go on in a virtual format in 2021 to help connect teens with employers and provide career-building workshops. The virtual job fairs will be held on Saturday, March 13 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, March 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. through the virtual job fair platform Brazen. The job fairs are open to all teens in Fairfax County looking for employment, volunteer opportunities, or tips on building a resume. State Championship Won By Centreville Wildcats

Paul McClain scored 10 points in Centreville’s win over Potomac
One year after being named co-champions with South County High School, the Centreville Wildcats took the Virginia Class 6 Boys State Championship at Centreville High School on Feb. 20. The Wildcats came in with only two losses during the season, one to Hayfield who they defeated 64-55 in the state semi-final game on Feb. 17, and Paul VI on Jan. 8. Continue reading
