TJ Students Trying To Launch A Liquid-Fueled Rocket To The Edge Of Space

A group of 26 students at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJ), which calls itself Project Caelus, successfully performed a “cold flow test” on September 13 in their efforts to launch a rocket to the edge of Earth’s atmosphere. This test is performed by running cold air and water through their engine prototype to simulate flight conditions. The final launch is planned for the spring of 2023. Continue reading

Stream Monitoring And Fish Identification Demonstration Held At Big Rocky Run

A recent demonstration of stream monitoring and fish identification for Virginia Master Naturalist trainees was held at Big Rocky Run, at Eleanor Lawrence Park in Chantilly. Fairfax County’s Stormwater Planning Division, conducted the demonstration, which regularly monitors the species of fish in area streams as a direct measure of stream health. Continue reading

IT Job Fair For Women In DC Area To Be Held Virtually

More than 40 companies with D.C.-area IT jobs to fill will take part in a virtual job fair on Thursday hosted by trade association Women in Technology. The job fair will feature companies including Amazon, Capital One, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Accenture, and Geico. The event is sponsored by the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority. Hilton Opens More Than 100 New Hotels Despite Pandemic
