Poplar Tree Road Bridge Opens In Chantilly

The Poplar Tree Road extension and bridge over Route 28 in Chantilly has now opened. It connects Walney and Stringfellow roads on the east side of Route 28 with Stonecroft Boulevard and Westfields Boulevard on the west side. It features a shared-use path linking to the new E.C. Lawrence Park access road. The bridge also gives bicyclists and pedestrians improved access to the park, especially those living on the west side of Route 28. Continue reading

Wishing Net Placed At Lake Anne Village Center

Lake Anne Village Center is located around a plaza and the inlet of Lake Anne at 1609 Washington Plaza W. Reston
At Lake Anne Village Center behind the bronze statue of Robert E. Simon installed on a plaza bench with his back to the lake, and alongside a Christmas tree, someone placed a wishing net. It is strung between simple plastic piping wrapped in evergreen garland. The whole thing is topped off with a big, sparkly, red bow, and it is alive with movement. Continue reading

Reston Hospital Installs HOPE For The Holidays

The healthcare workers at Reston Hospital did something to control the negative emotions. They strengthened their resolve, believing, holding onto hope, that circumstances would improve even in the face of adversity. People passing by Town Center Drive and New Dominion Parkway in Reston can see it from a distance – the four large block letters H-O-P-E, brilliantly illuminating the steep hill at Reston Hospital. Students Graduate Virginia Master Naturalist Program’s Spring Class

The 2020 Spring class of Virginia Master Naturalists (VMN) graduated in a Zoom ceremony on Dec. 14. The 10 graduates from across northern Virginia are now prepared to conduct and participate in area environmental service projects and programs sponsored by the State-wide organization. Hanukkah Observed December 10-18

Menorahs are lit, dreidels are spun and latkes are served as Jewish families across the city celebrate Hanukkah. It is the eight-day Jewish festival that began Dec. 10 and runs through Dec. 18. “Observing Hanukkah gives us the chance to learn about battles and the miracle of lights,” said Madi Friedberg, 9, as her family celebrated the fifth night of Hanukkah on Dec. 14.Continue reading
