Inova Mount Vernon Plans Critical Illnness Recovery Hospital

Expanded post-acute care is planned at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital in 2022, Inova Health System announced. The hospital will add a Critical Illness Recovery Hospital, also known as a Long-Term Acute Care Hospital. This is a new Inova service for patients who need specialized attention in an extended stay but no longer need intensive care. This program will care for patients with conditions like heart failure, wound or burn care, severe brain injuries, respiratory therapy or ventilator weaning. ‘Simpsons’ Pop-Up, A Moe’s Replica, Coming To Greater Washington

A replica of Moe’s, the community’s go-to bar and restaurant from “The Simpsons,” is coming to a Greater Washington mall. JMC Pop Ups LLC is bringing its “Moe’s Pop Up Experience” to the Northern Virginia shopping center, in a space on the lower level by the Macy’s entrance. Surgeon General And Jill Biden Start Kids Vaccination Campaign

First lady Jill Biden and Dr. Vivek Murthy, the surgeon general, will be visiting a children’s vaccination clinic at a school in McLean, Virginia, with historic significance in vaccine delivery. Franklin Sherman Elementary School was the first school in the nation to give children the polio vaccine in 1954. Jill Biden and Murthy are starting a campaign to get COVID-19 vaccine shots into the arms of children between the ages of 5-11 years of age. Continue reading

Parkway Plan Started In Mount Vernon In Early October

The George Washington Memorial Parkway is set for several changes to adapt to the amount of traffic, speeds and sight distances to make this travel corridor safer for motorists and pedestrians. The parkway is maintained by the National Park Service, and officials there are looking at the intersections of Stratford Lane, Collingwood Road and Morningside Lane to implement safety measures, and a road diet in other places. 2021 Vienna Halloween Parade Returns For 75th Annual Celebration

On Wednesday, Oct. 27, the 75th Annual Vienna Halloween Parade returned in its entirety, unlike last year's limited "Wave Parade," due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Town of Vienna Parks and Recreation and the Vienna Business Association coordinated, the hour-and-a-half-long parade featured 64 floats and other forms of entertainment marching down Maple Avenue, from Branch Road to Center Street. Fairfax City Speed Cameras Near Schools Now Watching

Most drivers know to slow down in school zones — those who forget in the city of Fairfax, Virginia, will be reminded with a speed camera ticket. Beginning Monday morning, Nov. 1, speed cameras will operate along Fairfax Boulevard, Old Lee Highway, and Jermantown Road, to protect students who attend the city’s four schools, and Woodson High School and Frost Middle School, in Fairfax County.
