World Central Kitchen Feds Hundreds In Mount Zephyr

On Thursday, April 16, the Rising Hope United Methodist Church set up camp with the World Central Kitchen to feed hundreds of people in the Mount Zephyr area. The recipe that really hit the spot was Chef José Andrés’ recipe which was a combination of meat, corn, rice, and spices. Pastor Keary Kincannon said, "We gave out 300 meals in 30 minutes. Fairfax High School’s Junior Uses 3D Printing To Make Protective Gear

A Fairfax County teen is using 3D printing technology to make sure first responders and local businesses are getting the protective gear they need to serve the community. Aashray Manchanda, a junior at Fairfax High School, has been working with 3D printing technology as part of a robotics club for years. Restrooms of the Fairfax City Parks To Be Kept Open By City Jobs Program

Where all businesses are closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, locked restrooms, due to closures of libraries and other public places, have only made the matters worse. But this problem has been solved locally thanks to a partnership between Fairfax City and The Lamb Center. The Lamb Center is daytime, a drop-in shelter serving the homeless. Under the already-existing City Jobs program, some 20 homeless men and women from The Lamb Center are paid to do a variety of tasks for Fairfax City’s Parks and Recreation Department. Via this innovative initiative, these workers clean and beautify city parks and other outdoor spaces for the public’s enjoyment. Continue reading

Fairfax County Public Schools are struggling to stabilize its live online learning platform in the midst of the coronavirus crisis for the rest of the school year. Yet the school leaders have realized that September isn’t far away.
