Enjoy Fall On The Waterfront At Portside In Old Town Fall Festival

The City of Alexandria comes alive this fall with the annual Portside in Old Town Fall Festival to be held at Waterfront Park in Old Town Alexandria. The event will be held on October 12 from 1 to 7 pm. Patrons at the event will be treated to a day of live music, maritime history, live demonstrations and activities for the kids.  The Alexandria Seaport Foundation Apprentices will demonstrate boat building techniques and knot tying skills from the Providence. Patrons can also explore the history of Portside from the Office of Historic Alexandria which shows the archaeological findings of 18th century ships which were uncovered along the waterfront. Local food, beer and wine will be on sale from local vendors. Learn More About Alexandria’s Water Systems At Water Discovery Day

The City of Alexandria, Virginia American Water and Alexandria Renew Enterprises  - Alexandria's three water system partners will be hosting the third Annual Water Discover Day on September 14 at Four Mile Run Park in Alexandria. Alexandria Renew Enterprises CEO Karen Pallansch states that "Water Discover Day brings water's value to life for people of all ages through a number of hands-on activities, giving attendees a better understanding of their role in preserving our local waterways".  The event will feature a tour of Alexandria Renew Enterprises Four Mile Run Pump Station, Hands on water activities with Virginia American Water, Touch a Truck with Alexandria Fire Department, Sewer Art Gallery, Make your own slime and Pet Adoption. American Horticultural Society To Host Annual Gala in Alexandria.

The American Horticultural Society will be hosting its 26th Annual Gala on September 21st at its River Farm headquarters 7931 E Boulevard in Alexandria.  This year's annual event themed a "Harvest of Health and Happiness" will feature a cocktail reception, live music, silent and online auctions and a three course complemented with live music. Participants at the event will celebrate the work of the society and its impact on million of lives for more than 95 years. The American Horticultural Society spearheaded by Kristen Coffield is a non profit organization which raises the awareness about the vital connection between people and plants and inspires communities to responsible caretakers of the earth. George Washington Whiskey Festival: A Must Attend Event For All Whiskey Lovers

The George Washington Whiskey Festival will be held on November 9th at the Mount Vernon Estate 3600 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway in Alexandria. The event will feature some of the finest spirits from Virginia craft distillers and other famous whiskey producers. The festival will also celebrate the debut of a new batch of George Washington straight Rye Whiskey, which was distilled at George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate distillery using the original recipe by George Washington and aged in charred oak barrels for four years. The Lee-Fendall House Museum & Garden located at 614 Oronoco Street in Old Town Alexandria will host its 4th fundraiser event on September 14th. The event dubbed Sips & Secrets: A Speakeasy Night will celebrate the house's Prohibition-era history. The event will be held from 7 pm to 10 pm and attendees will be able to enjoy 1920s-style drinks while dancing the night away to live jazz music and ragtime. A Must Attend Summer Event In Old Town – Old Town Beer, Wine And Dog Festival

Old Town Alexandria will come alive on August 17th with the hosting of the Old Town Beer, Wine and Dog Festival. The event which will be held at the Waterfront Park will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The goal of the festival "is to provide an alternative to the typical adoption procedure by combining food, drinks and dogs in a social environment". The festival will see guests trying local beer, wine and food enjoying live music and playing activities with dogs. Patrons attending the event without a dog can enjoy activities with the sheltered or fostered dogs who will be on location looking for a new home. The dogs will be able to run loose in a fenced area with tents, water bowls and ice baths for them to enjoy. Celebrate Art At The Del Ray’s Annual Art On The Avenue Festival

Del Ray's Annual Art on the Avenue Festival will be held on Mount Vernon Avenue in Del Ray on October 5 from 10 am to 6 pm. The annual festival which is held on the first Saturday in October celebrates the community's diversity through the arts. The festival hosts over 300 artists from jewelers, woodworkers, pottery akers, soap crafters, glass makers and sculptures. Live music will be provided on five stages with music from Irish, folk, rock n roll country and more. Food vendors from local restaurants will be on sale right through the festival. Patrons (kids and adults) at the festival can participate in the annual pie eating contest which will be held near the Festival Store with 100% proceeds going to the non profit organization Kelley Cares.
