If you like street music, then you'll find no better spot to wander than Old Town Alexandria. Through-out the week, especially on weekends, musicians gather in Old Town at street corners and near the waterfront to play music for tips and applause. Most are highly talented professionals, some are learning to play their instrument in front of a crowd. I enjoy them both in different ways.
Here in Old Town Alexandria, you'll find everything from a lonely saxophone, to steel drums to an entire band. Below I've collected a few photos to give you a taste of Old Town's many musicians.
This foursome was phenomenal singing and playing old time mountain music. It was a great throwback to the Carters because the gal in the front on the guitar was a great singer. The banjo player and bass were on point, and I love the texture that the mandolin (seated behind guitar) provided.
The glass harp as played by Jamie Turner is an old town treat one simply must hear in person to appreciate.
Harpist
This miss not only strummed the harp to perfection but also sang beautifully.
At the waterfront behind the Torpedo Factory there are often a few soloists serving up music for passers-by.
Old Town is full of shops, restaurants and attractions.
Many people feel that Old Town is the heart of Alexandria VA.
As the name implies, Old Town is the oldest part of Alexandria, a port in colonial times. Historic Old Town Alexandria is found along the Potomac, just inside the Woodrow Wilson Bridge and then north toward Reagan National Airport. Old Town is served by the King St. Metro and the King St. trolley. With over 100 restaurants, shops, boutiques, coffee shops, ice cream houses and more, there's always fun to be found in Old Town.

On 19May2014 the GI Film Festival kicked off at Old Town Theater. The event was visited by David Arquette, who you might know from the 1996 feature film Scream. The first movie of the 2014 GI Film Festival was the Field of Lost Shoes. The event sold out quickly.
As a volunteer, I got there early to help with set up. After moving a table to the second floor, I was waiting for the next task when I over heard someone asking about coffee shops in Old Town. I couldn't help but offer my two cents on a subject I was familiar with. I recommended Bittersweet, which was right next door from Old Town Theater, and Misha's, which was about 3 blocks away. Later on I was surprised to find out that the person asking about coffee was one of the GI Film Festivals directors!
As the event got closer to starting time, a line of audience members began to form. I took a spot as a door opener and handed out programs to incoming ticket holders. Meanwhile on the red carpet, there were professional photographers staffed who took pictures of celebrities and guests a like. It was interesting to see the crowd of cocktail attired visitors pass through to the evenings entertainment, which started seating at 6:15pm. After the beginning of the event had settled in, I took my leave, and said goodbye to Kim Palmese who had been my POC throughout the GI Film Festival. I remember her shuffling through the crowd, placing volunteers with excellent timing, and overseeing the logistics of this nonprofit hosted event.

Kelley farm is a subdivision of houses located in Woodbridge, VA, im Prince William County. It's close to I-95 and right off of route 1, which is very convenient to all the commuters out there. All of the houses here are absolutely beautiful, many of them having stone siding. Some of the benefits of living in the community are that its close to public transportation, their are many parks, both recreational and national near by. Also, their are alot of restaurants, entertainment options, shopping, etc. close to Kelley farm. Their are great schools in the Woodbridge area. The houses at Kelley Farm are all quite large, and most definitly appealing. The neighborhood is very well kept as far as i can tell. It overall seems to be a pleasant area to live in.
