Martin Luther King Park is a small park maintained by the Fairfax County Park Authority. Martin Luther King Jr. Park is located at 8115 Fordson Rd, Alexandria. The park features athletic fields, tennis courts, a playground, and an outdoor pool. It also has a picnic area that can be rented. Chambliss Park is a 8.16 acres neighborhood park located at 2505 North Chambliss Street on the west end of Alexandria. The park is adjacent to Dora Kelly Park and John Adams Elementary School. The park is a popular place for persons to walk their dogs, play tennis, go sledding during the winter and to play baseball. The Potomac Yard Park is a 23.4 acre neighborhood park located at 2501 Potomac Ave in Alexandria. The park was designed and constructed through a partnership between the Alexandria City Council and Pulte Homes. The park features picnic tables and pathways with ADA accessibility, outdoor stage area for the hosting of special events, Stormwater Management Ponds, Walking/Bicycle trails and passive seating areas with historical interpretations. Sports fanatics can enjoy park facilities such athletic fields, basketball courts, tennis courts and volleyball courts. There is a playground for kids to enjoy which is ADA accessible. Why Chinquapin Park and Recreational Center?

Chinquapin Park is a 52.89 acres park located at 3210 King Street. The park which was named for the Chinquapin Oak Tree was once known as Chinquapin Village, a war housing development which was built by the government for Torpedo Factory workers. Even though the area has now been developed into a park there are still areas which are reminiscent of the Chinquapin neighborhood.  In 1961 the City of Alexandria acquired the property and proposed the building of a mini amusement park. In 1971 the park was opened by former Mayor Charles E Beatley. The Recreation Center located on the site was opened in 1986. Continue reading
