Learn More About Alexandria’s Water Systems At Water Discovery Day

The City of Alexandria, Virginia American Water and Alexandria Renew Enterprises  - Alexandria's three water system partners will be hosting the third Annual Water Discover Day on September 14 at Four Mile Run Park in Alexandria. Alexandria Renew Enterprises CEO Karen Pallansch states that "Water Discover Day brings water's value to life for people of all ages through a number of hands-on activities, giving attendees a better understanding of their role in preserving our local waterways".  The event will feature a tour of Alexandria Renew Enterprises Four Mile Run Pump Station, Hands on water activities with Virginia American Water, Touch a Truck with Alexandria Fire Department, Sewer Art Gallery, Make your own slime and Pet Adoption. There will be educational games, food vendors and giveaways at the event. Everyone is invited to attend and learn how the water system works in Alexandria. Continue reading

American Horticultural Society To Host Annual Gala in Alexandria.

The American Horticultural Society will be hosting its 26th Annual Gala on September 21st at its River Farm headquarters 7931 E Boulevard in Alexandria.  This year's annual event themed a "Harvest of Health and Happiness" will feature a cocktail reception, live music, silent and online auctions and a three course complemented with live music. Participants at the event will celebrate the work of the society and its impact on million of lives for more than 95 years. The American Horticultural Society spearheaded by Kristen Coffield is a non profit organization which raises the awareness about the vital connection between people and plants and inspires communities to responsible caretakers of the earth. Proceeds from the Gala will provide monetary support for a variety of key programs, the society's education and outreach programs and the stewardship of the organization's headquarters. Discover 18th Century History At The Annual Colonial Market & Fair

The George Washington Mount Vernon Estate will be the host of the 2 day Annual Colonial Market & Fair to be held on September 14th and 15th. Discover 18th century history  and experience early American life with dozens of historic craftspeople and re-enactors. The annual fair features the sale of traditional hand crafted food and wares and demonstrations on crafting techniques from expert artisans. The neighborhoods of Old Town and Del Ray will come alive on August 10th and 11th at the 10th Annual Alexandria Summer Sidewalk Sale. The event which is led by Visit Alexandria in partnership with the City of Alexandria, the Del Ray Business Association, Old Town Boutique District and Old Town Business will see a showcase of over 50 Alexandria boutiques offering summer merchandise at discounts of up to 80 percent. Learn More About Trucks At The Annual Tons Of Truck Event In Alexandria.

The City of Alexandria will come alive on July 20 2019 as the Annual Tons Of Truck event takes place at Chinquapin Park and Forest Park, 3210 King Street Alexandria. The event will take place 10 am to 1 pm and will feature over 20 City vehicles on display. Patrons at the event will get the opportunity to explore and get behind the wheel of fire trucks, front end loader, dump truck, bucket truck, trash truck as well as bus and police cars. Persons can meet and greet with the personnel who have built and maintained the vehicles. Other activities at the event will include food truck vendors, giveaways, photo opportunities, book readings and art project with the City's Mobile Art Lab. Parking is available. Continue reading

Enjoy The Festivities Of Live Music And Food At Del Ray’s Annual Music Festival

The 11th Annual Del Ray Music Festival will be held on July 14 from 3 pm to 8 pm at the Pat Miller Neighborhood Square located at the intersection of Mount Vernon Avenue and Oxford Avenue in Del Ray Alexandria. The Annual Event celebrates the diverse and local musical talents  in the Washington DC area This year's event will feature live music from local musicians who will be performing on two stages: Pat Miller Neighborhood Square and Bean Creative Stage. Food and refreshments will be provided by some of Alexandria's top restaurants with pop-up beer gardens to be provided by seven of Del Ray's top Restaurants. The Friendship Veterans Fire Engine Association (FVFEA) will be hosting its Annual Firehouse Festival at The Friendship Firehouse Museum, 107 S. Alfred St Alexandria on August 3 from 9 am to 2 pm. The Friendship Veterans Fire Engine Association is an organization which focuses on fire fighting history and fire safety.
